Guidelines For Journalists

El Camino College values a friendly and cooperative relationship with the news media. As a journalist, you’re welcome to visit our campus to cover news about the college, but we do ask that a few guidelines be followed.

Reporters planning to cover a story on campus should first coordinate their visit with the Office of Marketing & Communications. This includes shooting video, taking photographs, and conducting interviews.

Coordinating with us in advance allows us to help you find the right location, the right faculty expert, or the right administrator—ensuring your time on campus is used effectively. Also, issues requiring official institutional comment should always be directed first to the Office of Marketing & Communications.

If you’re a TV reporter whose story includes a live shot, we’ll also help you find the right location to transmit a signal without interfering with campus parking lots, construction zones, and pedestrian traffic.
